Audi’s given its A6 and S6 models sleek new makeovers for 2016. But do they have the stuff to impress discerning car lovers? Take a closer look at these revamped automobiles.

More Power

Three of the four engines available have been upgraded so motorists can enjoy more power on the road. The smallest, the 2.0-liter TFSI inline-four, is no longer a lightweight with an extra 32 hp and 15 lb-ft of torque bringing its horsepower to 252 and lb-ft of torque to 273.

The 3.0-liter TFSI V6 gets 23 hp extra, bringing its stats to 333 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. It has a mechanical supercharger and a new electromagnetic clutch, which see its performance outstripping the first-generation Audi A8.

The granddaddy of them all, the 4.0-liter TFSI V8, which is only available in the S6, gets an extra 30 hp for a grunty 450 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. Only the diesel 3.0-liter V6 TDI stays the same, with 240 hp and 428 lb-ft.

The new seven-speed S tronic gearbox further enhances front-wheel-drive versions of the 2016 Audi A6.

Sophisticated Styling

Both vehicles have a wider, sportier look thanks to brand new headlights, reshaped grilles, and lower air splitters. The rear bumper has also undergone a makeover, as have the tail lights which are more angular and masculine.

There’s 20 percent more aluminum in the bodywork too. That lightness translates to keener handling on the road and better fuel economy, although we’ll have to see how much this improves once they’re on the road. The interior is also revamped, with acoustic glazing on the glass and more sophisticated trim.

High-Tech Features

The updated MMI system, with its eye-popping 3D graphics, is arguably the new Audi’s greatest perk. Motorists can choose to view their current speed, the speed limits, and their navigation directions via the eight-inch MMI screen or the Head-up Display. The MMI’s touchscreen provides acoustic feedback when you input a new character so you can operate it without taking your eyes off the traffic. Both models have 4G LTE and a powerful MIB 2 Nvidia Tegra 30 processor as standard.

Tech fans will love the addition of two new USB ports in the center console, a pair of card readers, 64GB of flash storage, 10 of which is dedicated to your driving playlist, and the Bluetooth interface.

Both vehicles also have extra safety systems, including Audi Active Lane Assist and Night Vision Assist for added peace of mind.

How Can You Get One?

Motoring journalists are already getting behind the wheel of the latest Audis in Europe. However, Americans will get their first glimpse of the revamped A6 and S6 models at the Los Angeles Auto Show before it hits local dealerships in spring 2015. Base prices were yet to be announced at the time of writing, but you’ve got plenty of time to save your pennies.

With more horsepower, choicer styling, and improved technology, there are plenty of reasons for avid motorists to covet the new 2016 Audi A6 and S6 models.
